I endeavor to do lots of laundry.
And to take the recycling to the drop off point, since it has pretty much taken over my two-butt kitchen. (Jared's Aunt Julie refers to very tiny kitchens as one-butt kitchens. That's what we had in Rochester. This one is bigger, so it has received a two-butt rating.)
I shall do more work on my conference presentation. I have all of the material written out. I need to organize it in some coherent form, and decide about audience interaction and violin demonstration bits. Maybe I can even find someone willing to sit and listen while I do a practice run.
I shall endeavor to finish figuring out which students will play at 2:00 and which will play at 4:00 on the studio recitals on the 18th, so I can start putting together the program orders.
Tomorrow I get to start with two new-to-me students in Gig Harbor. Also, I'll just throw out there that I've had two trial lessons, one observer, and two new contacts in the last week, which involve both teaching locations. Come on eight new hours of teaching so that Jared can quit West Seattle!
Wednesday Anne is going in for another scientific study at UW, so we'll see what that's about. Should be interesting.
I think this is the week that I ought to go out and buy Anne some shoes. She has some too-small dress shoes and some boots in her current size, all sent to her by lovely people in Alabama. I would refer to these as fashion-shoes. Now she needs some functional shoes. This weekend she has ramped up the walking a lot, so as to do half -time crawling and half-time walking, which means that she is going to be on her feet quite a lot soon, and maybe even almost exclusively when we go to the conference. And I'd prefer that she at least try to wear some shoes on city sidewalks and in conference centers and in airports and such... I think I need to find some soft, comfy, all-weather moccasins which have a magic latch only adults can undo. Anyone have some suggestions???
Tomorrow is our last day of Bible study for the school year, and I've already started on my own study to keep me busy. I'm digging into Zechariah, which I've read through before several times, but I've never delved into it. Using just a Bible and Strong's Exhausting (or is that Exhaustive?) Concordance and and the information I have in my head, I've already discovered that chapter 1 is the likely inspiration for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse found in Revelation chapter 6, and that the prophetic animal horns seem to be related to the horns found in Daniel chapters 7 and 8, and Revelation chapters 12, 13, and 17. And I'm suddenly seeing the importance of the Exile in Babylon to understanding huge swaths of the Old Testament, not to mention Revelation, which is basically a huge pastiche of Old Testament imagery. Also, I am seeing some attributes of God one doesn't always think to find in the Old Testament - in addition to his power and justice, I'm also seeing faithfulness, keeping of promises, mercy, and being a comforter. Not to mention references to another earlier prophet Zechariah and inspirations to words of Jesus recorded in Matthew. Call me a nerd, but I'm getting really excited about this, and I may devote an entire blog strand to Zechariah at some point. Stay tuned.
Also on Thursday, I finished pasting the pictures I ordered into Anne's baby book, and I came to the conclusion that though my child is extremely adorable, I need to spend more time taking pictures of her with other people. Here are some from the weekend...
Posing in a field of clover with Eastman Bear, sun in her eyes...
This is down the street from Jared's parents'
Playing with Daddy in the living room while Grandma and Grampa look at the adorable photos they took of her
Investigating the bees buzzing in and out of the hive boxes
Playing on Great-Grandma's piano
Helping Grandma make soup. Jared apparently spent a lot of time on his mother's left hip as well.
