In the midst of this I got a call from my co-teacher rather too late, to ask if I could see her son for a lesson before group class. Not possible. And then on the way to group class I got a call from my after-group student saying he was stuck in terrible traffic and would not be able to make his lesson. When I arrived I offered to see the afore-mentioned son after group class in place of my regular student, so that worked out nicely. After group, meanwhile, Jared and Anne went to Costco and went home to get dinner heated while I taught. Mind you it's already late for people to be eating dinner, but this is the life of working musicians. After my lesson, my co-teacher and I ended up chatting a bit about group class plans and about our upcoming recital and about her recent trip and about my Suzuki presentation...
Anyway, it was really later than I had planned to stay so I went to gather up my things and get going. When I discovered the diaper bag was *missing*. Meaning Jared had taken it with him. Meaning he had my keys and wallet. Meaning I was not going anywhere. I tried calling him several times, but his phone can be a little unreliable (*note to self - time to get that replacement phone charged up*). My co-teacher pulled out the AAA number so I could call to get a new key. They had a really hard time finding my info to help me get service. Meaning either I forgot to transfer the account from Alabama (I had a problem in Alabama with this once when I had forgotten to transfer my account from NY) or I haven't actually paid and am no longer a member. I was on the phone with her for quite some time and still hadn't solved the problem when my phone battery died. So that was the end of that. I ended up leaving Jared a phone message and sending him an email. A little while later, he called the home phone where I was, because he was starting to wonder why I hadn't gotten home yet. And after a bit of explanation, he put the uneaten dinner away and hauled howling Anne back to group class house to deliver the key. By the time we all got home it was 9:30-ish and THEN it was time for dinner and baby bath and such. Late night.
However I feel sane these days, since Anne is not having teething drama in the night right now.
And she has this adorable new trick. You say, "All gone," and she does this:
