Friday we played for the orchestra classes at the high school just east of us. It was fun. And Anne stayed asleep at home for the babysitter.
Last week I finished the third book on my read-before-I-die shelf called Parenting With Love and Logic. It is good and it's along the same lines as a favorite of mine called Boundaries with Kids. It's about helping kids learn to listen to their consciences and think for themselves; learning to make choices and see how their actions impact themselves and others; learning empathy. It's not about being authoritarian or punitive. It's about how to help kids be responsible while NOT driving their parents mad. It's about parenting without using anger inappropriately or lecturing or punishing. This particular book has a lot of handy how-to.
Also last week I taught a number of lessons for my colleague who was on vacation for the week. Fun to work with a lot of the students from our group class one-on-one.
Scrubbed my bathroom within an inch of its life this morning while the baby is sleeping.
Trying to get more students.
Selling some diapers online.
Hoping to finish knitting Anne's Christmas dress soon.
And gearing up for a week with quite a few more extracurricular activities.
And you should read my mom's blog post about the beauty of our surroundings and how that influences us.
